Dutch Guilders
Dutch Guilders
The Dutch guilder coins belong to Tjan Ang Kie, my grandmother, as found in her wallet. One of the coins found was as old as 1892, with the emblem young Queen Wilhelmina, two years into her reign (centrepiece).
Coins are used daily, when Tjan Ang Kie goes to the market. She once told me, 2 1/2 guilders (left piece, largest coin) would be enough for all meals for the day.
In the wallet there were found Dutch guilders, a few Straits Settlement coins, and New Zealand dollar coins. She never visited any of the countries whose coin she held for decades.
