Wamena 1989
In 1989, Father Vincent Cole of Detroit, MI, a missionary in Asmat, embarked on a 500 km trip from Asmat to Wamena on foot and on canoe. When he returned from the journey, he developed his Fuji Sensia film only to see how it turned very bluish. Thirty years later, Joshua Irwandi working with Fr. Cole with the latest imaging technology re-adjusts the slides digitally and try to salvage the images Fr. Cole thought was lost.
The photographs on this page belong to Fr. Vincent Cole, and re-worked by Joshua Irwandi. The project is still ongoing.
